Q: Why should I study Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?
A: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is the martial art of the future. Independent of size and strength, both male and female students of any age can be extremely effective in this style. BJJ is a simple art where the small and weak guy can beat a big and muscular person. It is effective because it is all about leverage, balance, control, flexibility, speed and pressure. Popularized in "reality fighting tournaments," BJJ maximizes the principles of leverage and position so that you can competently manage yourself in either self-defense situations or for sport. You will learn how to position yourself to effectively choke and joint-lock opponents into submission. Unlike other martial arts, BJJ is active ("Alive") and fluid, so please always enjoy your training time.

Q: How can I get the most out of my training time? A: The most important key to maximize your training experience is to have an open mind. An open mind will allow you to learn from anyone and everyone that you spend your training time with. Treat your training as a game in which there are no winners or losers. The most important key to remember is to leave your ego outside the mat.

Q: I'm new to this whole thing. How should I start? A: The primary philosophy, as well as our mission statement, at West Coast Fight Club is to create the strongest synergistic training environment possible in order to provide for the growth and development of all members regardless of experience and/or background. All classes are offered at beginner, intermediate, and competition levels in order to embrace this philosophy.

Q: Is this really a 'Fight Club'? A: I originally liked the name West Coast Performance Athletics, but that name just doesn't stick in your head quite as well. Does it? We are a facility that is focused on athleticism, self-discipline and personal growth. I promise you that once you are a WCFC family member you will be proud to represent your friends and family by wearing the WCFC logo on your back anywhere and everywhere your life may take you.
